Durango, CO - Toni passed away on December 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospice House in Durango, CO with her daughter Lisa by her side. She was born 84 years ago in Minneapolis, MN where her mother Elizabeth and step-father, George Alt raised her. She graduated from Northrup Collegiate School, MN and went on study at many colleges. She and her first husband Edwin L. Shevlin, Jr. resided in Lafayette, CA, and Wayzata, MN. She met her secondary husband Elmer D. Perue in Saratoga, WY. After his death, she returned to California. Years later her travels took her down to the Four Corners where she fell in love with the people and the area and decided to call it home. She worked most of her life and thoroughly enjoyed it. She had worked as a ranch hand stringing barbed wire fence, as a tour guide aboard a paddle wheeler boat, as a contributing reporter to a small town newspaper, as an entrepreneur running her two gift shops in Tahoe City, CA, and remembered the importance of volunteering on political campaigns. She retired a few years ago from teaching nutrition through the New Mexico Department Agriculture, Aztec, NM. Toni is survived by her three daughters, Kim Harris of Palo Alto, CA, Jan Moore of Brewster, MA, Lisa Harris of Durango, CO and two grandsons, Robert and Jacob Moore also of Cape Cod, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the La Plata County Human Society of Durango, CO.
