Ronald Armstrong

January 3, 1949 — November 26, 2021

In loving memory of Ronald Gale Armstrong, 72 of Bayfield, Colorado, surrounded by his wife and daughter, passed away in his home on November 26, 2021.

Ron was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on January 3, 1949, to the late Ollimae (Knight) Armstrong and Harold Lester Armstrong. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1967. After graduation, he married Judy Kay Carver of Kimberly, Idaho with whom he had three children. He studied in Pocatello, Idaho and always enjoyed working with his hands and creating projects in his mind. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1977.
Ron had many construction businesses over the years and loved discovering new inventions to help make work and life easier. Later in life, Ron found an artistic flair for turning blocks of wood with inlayed gems into unique bowls and sold them at local art markets.

Camping, fishing, 4 wheeling, sand railing, snowmobiling, skiing, golfing, traveling, scuba diving, playing games/cards and being goofy and having fun with friends and family, were some of his favorite pass times. His loved ones have many fond memories of the times they shared with him.

In 1998 Ron married Sandra J. Armstrong, gained two stepsons, and moved to Bayfield, CO. After surviving several strokes he decided it was time to retire and enjoy each day. In addition to his new family, he found he enjoyed working with cars and restoring or destroying sand rails, hot rods and sand buggies.

Ron, often known as "Senor Long-Hair", would smile each time someone called him that nickname. Many adventures in Mexico lead to stories that have been shared and fondly remembered by family and friends. However, some stories are best not to put into print but are imprinted in the hearts of those who were there. The family celebrated Thanksgiving early this year to ensure he did not miss a bite of his favorite meal or his cherished cool whip with a side slice of pumpkin pie. In the words of his wife Sandy, "With Ron, you don't go on a relaxing vacation; you go on a crazy adventure."

Ron is preceded by his mother and father, and stepson, Josh Hickman and will be missed by wife, Sandra Armstrong (Bayfield, CO), his daughters Cynthia Kokasko (Page, AZ), Tara Armstrong (Phoenix, AZ), son Damion Armstrong (Phoenix AZ), son in law Frank Kokasko (Page, AZ), stepson Jacob Hickman (Tokyo, Japan) his sisters Cheryl (Leon) Bruce (Twin Falls, ID), Linda (Brad) Stimpson, (Kimberly, ID), his brothers Gerald (Andrea) Armstrong (Boise, ID), Dave (Donna) Armstrong (Phoenix, AZ) grandchildren Sean and Kristine Kokasko (Phoenix, AZ) Mykel and Emily Fatali (Salt Lake City, UT) Brianna Kokasko (Page, AZ) great grandchildren Kayleigh and Connor Kokasko (Phoenix, AZ) and his "beloved pups" Willie, Jade, Buffy, and Ruby.

Celebration of life will be held in 2022 with family and friends.
