Long-time local resident Antonio “Tony” Chavez, born 12/17/48 passed 4/21/25 with family by his side. Tony passed due to complications of heart disease and diabetes. He was 76. His family honors his request of no services.
Tony was born to Delfin and Isabel Chavez in Dragerton, Utah in 1948. In May 1967, he married Christine, his wife of 51 years.
Tony is survived by his children (Sarah, Del, John). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tony, Cassandra, Miranda, Warren and Elaina. He also has two great grandchildren: Esmeralda and Isabel. He is pre-deceased by his parents, wife as well as his siblings. Tony was the last of his immediate childhood family to pass. Survivors also include multiple nieces and nephews from his five beloved sisters. There is quite the reunion upstairs!
The family wishes to thank the First Responders who fought to keep him with us. Thank you also to the unknown local woman who blessed us with her help before the First Responders arrived.
Tony was an excellent Father who invested heavily in his children by teaching them his multiple skill sets. Whether it was teaching autobody work, homebuilding, artistic drawing or leatherwork via his role as a 4H Leader to the Bayfield Club, Tony gave his children skills to succeed. All of his children have an appreciation for classic cars from all the car shows they attended growing up.
Professionally Tony was an autobody tech. He worked for the local Ford dealership for 15 years and the local Chevy dealership for 10 years, tenures unheard of in this day and age. He never lost his passion for cars.
Faith, work ethic, humor, love and a strong knit family are his legacies.
