BORN AVERY ANNE FISH FEBUARY 25, 1935 IN MENARD, TEXAS TO CLARENCE A. AND AUGUSTA (FRANCES) T. FISH. SHE WAS THE TWIN SISTER OF SARAH FRANCES WHO WAS THE ELDER BY APPROXIMATELY ¾ HR. 

SHE MOVED TO THE CANNON RANCH IN BORDEN COUNTY, TX IN SEPTEMBER 1942, THEN MOVED TO LAMESA, TX IN 1946. SHE ATTENDED LAMESA SCHOOLS, GRADUATING IN MAY 1952.  SHE ATTENDED WESTERN UNION SCHOOL IN OKLAHOMA CITY, OK AND WORKED FOR THE COMPANY FIRST IN LAS CRUCES, NM AND THEN IN ROSWELL (WHERE SHE MET PAUL) UNTIL 1954. SHE MARRIED PAUL JOHN ERICKSON ON OCT 17, 1953 AT IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSWELL, NM. THE COUPLE MOVED TO DURANGO, CO IN MAY 1957 WHERE THEY LIVED THE REMAINDER OF THEIR DAYS. 

ADDITIONALLY, ANNE WORKED FOR GULF OIL, CONTINENTAL OIL, AND GAIL F. PERSON, DDS UNTIL SEPT 1979 WHEN SHE RETIRED TO PURSUE HER HOBBIES AND HELP RAISE HER GRANDCHILDREN. ACTIVE IN ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH IN DURANGO, SHE WAS A MEMBER OF LADIES’ GUILD AND LWML, A FORMER SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER, AND A VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEER. ANNE ENJOYED MAKING BANNERS FOR ALL OCCASIONS FOR THE CHURCH. OTHER HOBBIES INCLUDED READING, GARDENING, TRAVEL, BIRD WATCHING, BAKING, CAKE DECORATING, CRAFT WORK, KNITTING AND CROCHETING. SHE VOLUNTEERED FOR MANY YEARS FOR PROJECT LINUS, MAKING BLANKETS FOR CHILDREN IN NEED.

ALTHOUGH NAMED AVERY AT BIRTH, SHE WENT BY ANNE MOST OF HER LIFE AND WAS KNOWN TO HER FAMILY AS NANA. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER FIRST GRANDSON, ANDREW ‘DREWBY’ ERIC SANCHEZ, BY HUSBAND PAUL, BROTHER TOBEY, MOTHER FRANCES, AND FATHER CLARENCE. SURVIVORS INCLUDE: SON JOEL ERICKSON OF DURANGO, DAUGHTER PAULA ERICKSON OF BAYFIELD, GRANDAUGHTERS JODI UNDERWOOD (HUSBAND PATRICK) OF BAYFIELD AND SARAH SANCHEZ ARMSTRONG (HUSBAND BRIAN) OF DURANGO, GRANDSONS BROCK ERICKSON (WIFE SARAH) OF ARVADA, TYLER ERICKSON (WIFE SIERRA) OF IDAHO SPRINGS, JACOB AND BENJAMIN ARCHULETA OF BAYFIELD, BY GREAT GRANDCHILDREN SARETH SANCHEZ OF PITTSBURGH,  FREYA AND ROWAN UNDERWOOD OF BAYFIELD, ROSA ARMSTRONG OF DURANGO, AUTUMN AND KAYA ERICKSON OF ARVADA, AND EVERLEIGH ERICKSON OF IDAHO SPRINGS. SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY TWIN SISTER SARAH FRANCES SHEPHERD (HUSBAND GORDON) OF DURANGO, BY SISTER BILLIE RUTH HODGES OF SAN ANGELO, TX, AND BY NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS, AUNTS, COUSINS, AND INNUMERABLE FRIENDS. 

ANNE MADE A TREMENDOUSLY POSITIVE IMPACT ON HER COMMUNITY AND WILL BE DEARLY MISSED. SHE PASSED ON JANUARY 14, 2023 AT 7:32PM, SURROUNDED BY HER FAMILY. PLEASE JOIN US IN CELEBRATING HER LIFE AT 11AM ON MARCH 4TH, 2023 AT ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH IN DURANGO. A LUNCHEON WILL FOLLOW HER MEMORIAL SERVICE.
