Obituary for
Richard Z. Bell
Richard Z. Bell, 89, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Durango, Colorado. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Durango. Pastor Jeff Huber of First United Methodist Church, Durango, will be officiating. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango and burial of ashes will be in Curtisville, MI, this summer.
Mr. Bell was born on Gates Ranch June 2, 1921 in South Branch, Michigan, the son of Dan and Myrtle Bell. He served in the U.S. Navy as a submarine diesel mechanic from 1944-1946. He attended Michigan State University where he received a Masters of Arts Degree. He taught vocational Agriculture and Metal Shop in Scottville, MI, until his retirement. He was the FFA sponsor for many years with 2 of his students winning the American Farmers Award.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise A. Bell of Durango; Mary Bell & Dan C. Howell (daughter and son-in-law) of Durango; Colby & Annie-Lauren Howell (grandson and his wife) of Beaumont, Texas; Courtney Howell (granddaughter) of Durango, Olga Tyo (sister) of South Carolina, two nephews and one niece.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local FFA or local Methodist Church.
