H. Prescott Blake

October 21, 1932 — June 18, 2022

H. Prescott Blake was born October 21st 1932 in Monticello, Utah to Charlotte Mae Coleman and H. Elwyn Blake.

Prescott was the 4th of 9 children. The Blake family home was on the Animas River, where Island Cove Mobile Home Park is now located in Durango. Their log home still stands and is in use today. Prescott and his siblings loved growing up on the river. He had fond memories of the large family garden, ice skating, skiing, hunting and fishing.

Prescott graduated from Durango High School in 1950. He worked several jobs, before learning the plumbing trade, which he eventually became a longtime partner in Blake & Tomberlin Mechanical, a commercial plumbing and heating company.

Prescott married Darla J. Johns in 1960 and together they had two children, Brad and Lori. Later he married Jayne Hazelton and they have been together over 30 years. They made their home in Durango and have had many wonderful adventures!

Prescott passed away on June 18, 2022 peacefully, with his wife Jayne by his side. He loved Jayne, his family, people he worked and socialized with and living in the mountains. He loved hunting, fishing, a fire in his fireplace every night, as well as his blue jeans and cowboy hat. He was blessed to have so many lifelong friends.

Prescott is survived by his wife, Jayne Hazelton Blake; his son Brad (Janelle) Blake; daughter Lori (Spike) Bond; siblings: Stanley and Martin Blake, Ginny Schafer and Kathy Edwards; grandchildren: Billy (Callie) Bond, Ryan Martinez, Amanda Bond, Stewart (Nicole) Blake, Koleman (Cami) Blake and Jared (Tianna) Blake; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other children he opened his home to over the years.
