Carolyn Elaine Bowen, 84,of Castle Rock, CO passed away on June 11, 2022, surrounded by family.
Carolyn was born in Fort Wayne, IN on August 17, 1937 and attended Indiana University graduating with a Master's Degree in Music. She taught music in Lafayette, IN for many years before marrying her husband Gene and moving to Burley, Idaho. She and her husband moved to Ignacio, CO where they hand built a log house and she lived for 40 years. Carolyn loved music, her kitties and animals of all kinds. She loved her country life and mountain views. She was an accomplished pianist and violinist. Carolyn was sweet, caring and compassionate. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Bowen Sr, and parents: Nathaniel and Cleo Both, Sr.
She is survived by her step children Gene Bowen, Jr. and Jill Bowen, of Las Vegas NV; brothers Nathaniel Both, Jr of Rowlett, TX, Benjamin Both of Castle Rock, CO, and James Both of Watseka, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 17, 2022 at Greenmount Cemetery, Durango ,CO.
