Obituary for Cleda M. Campbell

Cleda Campbell passed away at Pine Ridge Extended Care Center in Pagosa Springs, Colo., on Monday, April 25, 2011, from complications of COPD. She was 76.

She was born in Chromo, Colo., on November 10, 1934, to Velma and Lynn Lewis, both native Pagosans. She was one of two beautiful girls. Cleda met and fell in love with Jack Eaklor. They were married on June 20, 1956. After their marriage they moved to the Eaklor Family Ranch in Chromo, Colo., where they began raising their children, Jack Jr., Cindy, and Bobbie.

After losing her husband to an accident, she moved back into town where she worked at Citizens Bank and continued to raise her children as a single mother. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a strong, beautiful woman with a big heart. She enjoyed being outdoors, going to the rodeos, and country-western dancing. She loved Pagosa Springs and the surrounding beauty it holds. She often referred to it as God’s Country.

Later in life she met and married Kenneth D. Campbell on July 2, 1997. They continued to live in Pagosa as retirees. She lived in the family home on Hermosa Street which was built in the 1930’s.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Campbell, children Jack (Barbara) Eaklor, Cindy Eaklor, all of Pagosa Springs; Diana (Todd) Proctor or Ruidoso, N.M.; Jule Verquer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Susan (Todd) Mosley of Belen, N.M.; grandchildren Lorie (David) Gonzales of Pagosa Springs, Nick Jaquez of Ruidoso, N.M.; Olivia Mosley of Belen, N.M.; and great-grandchildren, Jay and Cutter Williams of Texas. Cleda was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Wood; her father, Lynn Lewis; her sister Charlotte Freienmuth, and her daughter Bobbie Eaklor.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Crossroad Christian Fellowship at 1044 Park Ave., Pagosa Springs, Colo., with a reception afterwards.

She was a woman that is dearly loved by everyone that knew her and she will be missed.
