Casey Dean Story

September 22, 1975 — September 20, 2025

Hesperus, Colorado

Pre-staged at the start line in Altus OK at a whopping 8lbs

September 22, 1975

Casey joined Jesus at the finish line scarred up, out of fuel, parachutes opened with a smoking gear box, four bald tires, a warped block, and a Cheshire grin on Saturday September 20th, 2025.

Casey was, to say the very least, a multi-talented, well-versed, self-educated artist, musician, and fabricator (in both word and deed).

Little known fact about Casey, was that he taught his younger brothers how to saddle and ride a horse, and how to rope. Unsurprisingly, he taught his baby sister to drive a stick shift – three on a tree.

He enjoyed both fabricating things from the ground up and absolutely burning things to the ground! He enjoyed sharp shiny things and making them sharper. He enjoyed “improving” on designs he found lacking (knives, cars, motors, people).

Although a challenging human for various reasons, he had a very giving heart, he loved deeply and defended fiercely. He lived by his own rules and played off his own sheet of music.

He is survived by his loving parents, Calvin and Pat Story, Brothers Cody (Shannon) Story of Aztec NM; Clayton (Stacy) Story, Conroe Tx; and Sister Kayla (Acie) Patterson, Bayfield, CO. Children, Christian (Bree) Story of Tulsa, OK; Michael Story of Salt Lake UT; Kaycee Story of Salt Lake, UT; Kodi Cruzen of Aztec, NM; Brantley Story of Owasso, OK; chosen children Hallie McGee, Colbin Atencio, several nieces and nephews, friends who became family, and race track gear heads and track aficionados.

Casey’s life is best summed up with the following quote:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in, broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW! WHAT A RIDE!”
