Charlene L. Pitts went to her eternal home in Heaven on November 16, 2023.
Born June 3, 1930, in Montrose, Colorado, to David and Mary Hamilton, Charlene graduated from Mount Hope Kansas High School in 1948. An avid and enthusiastic basketball player, Charlene scored 50 points in one basketball game, of which she was justifiably proud. Following her basketball talents and her love of learning, Charlene attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas.
In 1950, Charlene married the love of her life, Dale Pitts, in Hutchinson. The couple enjoyed farming for five years. In 1950, Charlene and Dale moved to Durango, Colorado, where Charlene spent 53 years working for Coca Cola, a job she loved. Charlene also had a love of gardening, which gave her much joy. An accomplished pianist and vocalist, Charlene took her talents to many churches, where her beautiful voice and her love of the piano were shared with others. Charlene loved the Lord and loved the missions. She looked for - and always found - ways to help others, especially missionaries. She was a faithful servant of God throughout her life. Charlene was a member of the Frontier Baptist Church, a celebration of Charlene's life will be held Saturday, November 25th at 11:00 am. Following the celebration, Interment will be held at Crestview Cemetery.
Charlene was welcomed in Heaven by her lifelong love, Dale Pitts. She leaves behind her beloved brothers, Merle Hamilton and Jesse Hamilton (Dee); her sister, Emma Denney (Steve); and many nieces and nephews. The family she leaves behind knows that Charlene will be standing at the Pearly Gates waiting for them when they join her in Heaven.
