Doneva Paulek Huntington 79, of Hesperus Colorado, passed away peacefully Tuesday June 16, 2026 at the the BeeHive Memory Care Home in Cortez, CO. She was surrounded by her husband, brother, 3 of her 5 children and 2 son in laws. Doneva was born June 04, 1947 to Donald and Shirley Hoover. She was later adopted by James Grant Paulek in 1961. She grew up on west Park Ave in Durango and on the Paulek Ranch in Hesperus. She was blessed with two daughters, Keitha Walker and Stephanie Rizzi from a previous marriage. She married the love of her life Dan Huntington on December 26, 1981. She became the bonus mom to Samantha Bradshaw and Sabrina Huntington. Dan and Doneva's son, Scott Huntington, (The Prince of Hay Gulch) was born in October 1982. Doneva loved her family dearly, especially her son Scott. Doneva graduated from Durango High School June,1965. She graduated from the Business School of Albuquerque in 1967 with an associate's degree in data processing. She worked for Rio Rancho New Mexico Development as it began. She continued to work in data processing. Doneva moved back to Farmington to be closer to family. She became the assistant director of data processing for San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, NM. She worked at the Hesperus Post Office as the assistant postmaster. Doneva loved to read, yardwork and flowers. She loved spending time with her best friends and all of the people who came into her life. Doneva was beautiful inside and out. She was kind and caring. She never met a stranger.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dan Huntington. Brother Don Paulek. Her daughters Keitha Walker (Mike), Stephanie Rizzi (Clayton), Samantha Bradshaw, Sabrina Huntington (Aaron Preator), and her son Scott Huntington (Michele). Grandchildren Lauren (William), Dalton (Rizz), William (Johnny), Cabree, Dillon, Frankie Jo, Kellie, Hayden, Catherine, Arol, Caleigh (Jesse), Eric (Latha) and her 5 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 10:30 am at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango, CO. Reception luncheon at Sacred Heart Parish Hall 254 E 5th Ave Durango, CO immediately following graveside service.
