Donnie Snooks, 75, of Bayfield, Colorado, passed away on May 6, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Ila Snooks. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Robin Snooks, his children Jennifer Hine (Rich), Michael Snooks, Kristin Snooks, and four grandchildren Cash Snooks (Sierra), Chance Hine, Dax Snooks, Bodie Hine, and his precious great-grandchild Trace Snooks. All of Bayfield, CO. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Phyllis Johnson (Wayne) of Torrington, WY.
Donnie dedicated many years of his career to El Paso Natural Gas, later working at Pick Bar Ranch for Bob and Gwenn Williams. He also ran his own ranch, where he found joy and purpose in the daily rhythm of ranch life – and on the side, excitement and adrenaline through his love of horse racing.
A proud supporter of Bayfield athletics, Donnie was a familiar face at local games and events – cheering first for his children, and later for his grandchildren. As his grandchildren’s interests grew, he followed them beyond the playing field, spending many weekends traveling throughout the Four Corners to watch junior high and high school rodeos. His presence, warmth, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service will be held at Bayfield Cemetery on June 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at the family home in Bayfield.
