Douglas Jagger

Douglas "Doug" Jagger passed away in his home on June 24, 2023, at age 85, having lived a vibrant and joyful life full of adventure. He faced lung cancer with bravery and resolve.

Doug was born to Douglas and Henrietta Jagger in 1938 on Long Island, NY. While on Long Island he completed his electrical apprenticeship and journeyman-ship, reared his three children, and served his country as a U.S. Marine Corps Reservist. His electrical career centered mostly on heavy industry.

In 1980, Doug left New York on vacation and discovered Durango, CO. He moved his family there and built four beautiful homes in Rafter J.

In 1994, he left Durango for parts unknown and settled in Mesa, AZ, where he continued his electrical career. There his marriage to wife Barbara ended. While married to Barbara, they created a beautiful family. Although the marriage ended, they each were able to find happiness again.

In 2004, Doug decided to return to Durango for the next and last 20-year adventure, together with his life partner Sandra Francik.
Doug was a selfless man, always willing and wanting to lend a hand to others. Throughout his adult life he was a "Doug-of-all-trades." His love of travel was evident, having visited the North, South, and Latin Americas plus Europe. He was an avid reader, puzzler, builder, and inventive problem solver.

A wonderful and loving partner, father, grandfather, big brother, and friend, he will be sorely missed by many. He is survived by his partner Sandy, children Kim (Russel) Rickard of Buena Vista, CO, Kevin Jagger of Durango, Karin Pearce of Colorado Springs, six grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren, brother Winston Jagger of Craig, CO, and sister Louise Jagger of Hot Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Clifford.

"Your days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun. If you do not, the sun will soon set, and you with it." - Marcus Aurelius
