For Fabian, some of life’s greatest moments were simple and lasting: good food, good company, and the comfort of having loved ones close.

Fabian R. Martinez, born June 3, 1981, in Durango, Colorado, passed away on September 2, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona.

Fabian will be remembered as a kind man, a hard worker, and someone deeply devoted to his family. He had a gift for bringing people together and took genuine joy in filling his home and his life with the people he loved. He was a generous host, especially when a barbecue was involved, and those who gathered around his table knew well that his smoked meats and brisket were second to none. For Fabian, some of life’s greatest moments were simple and lasting: good food, good company, and the comfort of having loved ones close.

He built his career as a Security Supervisor for Transcend at the Sky Song Building in Scottsdale, Arizona, where his dedication and work ethic were recognized with both Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year honors. He also pursued his education at Arapahoe Community College, earning a Certificate in Architectural Design. Fabian carried pride in his work and in the example he set through perseverance and commitment.

Outside of work, Fabian embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved hiking and the outdoors, and he was a true car enthusiast who proudly owned a Dodge Challenger. He was also an avid Denver Broncos fan who loved attending games, gathering friends and family for watch parties, and sharing in the excitement that came with every season. Among the memories held closest are deep sea fishing with his son Elijah in the Pacific Ocean and family trips to San Diego, Sea World, and Mexico. He was also a proud Army Dad who loved supporting his family and those who served.

Fabian is survived by his wife, Heather Miller, and by his children, Elijah Martinez and his wife Kailey, along with their daughter; Christian Martinez; and Alicia Martinez. He is also survived by his brother Julian Martinez and his wife Meagan, and their daughters Harlow and Gemma. Fabian leaves behind his parents, Fernando and Betty Martinez, as well as many loved ones who will continue to carry his memory forward in the stories they share, the meals they gather around, and the love he so freely gave.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Joe Mestas and grandmother Nellie Mestas; his aunt Vickie Santistevan; and his uncle Jimmy Mestas.

A Rosary will be held on September 19, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 254 E 5th Ave, Durango, Colorado. A Mass will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery, 900 Cemetery Rd, Durango, Colorado.

Fabian’s life was marked by warmth, loyalty, laughter, and love. He leaves behind the enduring memory of a man who worked hard, loved deeply, welcomed people in, and made ordinary moments feel like something to be treasured.
