Reba Adelle Fleming, known as Adelle, Mom, Grandma, GiGi, “Antie” and special friend, 93, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at home in Durango, Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 5 at First United Methodist Church. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Burial will be in Whittier, California at a later date.

Born July 01, 1917 in Shelby County, Texas, Adelle was the first daughter child of Blan and Daisy Ramsey. In the 1930’s the Ramseys moved to Lynn County, Texas. There she met Alton Fleming. They were married in October, 1936. During World War II, Alton and Adelle moved to southern California where they stayed to live and raise their family. She moved to Durango in 1994.

Adelle had an abiding faith in God which was manifest in an indominatable spirit and a sense of good will that endeared her to family and friends alike. In Durango she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed and appreciated the service and social opportunities provided by that congregation. She enjoyed fellowship with her Emmaus Reunion Group, The Chit Chat Ladies, UMW and Crafty Ladies. She also enjoyed the Neo Delphians and Project Linus.

After family and friends Adelle treasured her home, flower garden and the birds at the feeder. She will be remembered for her hospitality and the sharing of her love of life. She enjoyed crochet, oil painting, walks along the Animas River and travel - especially when it involved grandchildren.

She is survived by Glenn (son) and Maxine of Mount Pleasant, SC, Reba (daughter) and Dale Warren of Durango, CO, Jake Fleming (grandson) of Greenville, SC, Ben (grandson) and Mame Fleming of Asheville, NC, Sam, Jack and Ford Fleming (great grandsons) of Asheville, NC, Blair (brother) and Nita of Runge, TX, LaMyrle (sister) and Cliff Cox of Tulsa, OK, Bill (brother) and Ruth Ramsey of Dumas, TX, Sue Scott(sister) of Tulsa, OK, Brian and Kurt Warren (step-grandsons), 12 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Alton in 1983, and her brother Harold Ramsey (2006).

Contributions in her memory may be made to Methodist Thrift Store for scholarships, Manna Soup Kitchen or Project Linus.
