Gene Walsh, of Durango, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Originally from Los Angeles, Gene and his wife Donna moved from San Pedro, CA to Durango in 1979, where he established himself as a contractor and later became known for his custom cabinetry work. Gene served 4 years in the Air Force band as a clarinet and saxophone player. He umpired high school, college and semi-pro baseball in California. He is survived by Donna, his wife of 69 years, son Greg Walsh and daughter Susan Campbell, both of Durango and granddaughter, Lauren Walsh, of Sandown, New Hampshire. Gene's legacy will be cherished for his devotion to his craft and family.
