Geneva Louise Heiman

Overland Park, Kansas

Geneva Louise Ball was born November 16, 1923 in Wichita, Kansas to William Palmer Ball and

Helen Edith (Hoag) Ball. She passed away on Tuesday, May 27 at the Kansas City Hospice House

in Kansas City, Missouri. Geneva had been a resident of Tallgrass Creek Senior Living, Overland

Park Kansas, since 2018.

After graduating from Alma (Kansas) High School in 1942, Geneva attended business school in

Topeka, Kansas then the University of Kansas for two years. At KU, she was a member of Kappa

Phi sorority. On August 12, 1945, Geneva married Walter Ray ‘Pete’ Heiman in Lawrence,

Kansas. She started her career as a secretary and bookkeeper for Santa Fe Offices in Topeka,

Kansas. In 1946, she and Pete moved to Durango, Colorado where she worked for Graden

Weinland’s, Carter and Humble Oil, and the Division of Rehabilitation for the state of Colorado,

from which she retired in 1979.

Geneva was an avid gardener and outdoor enthusiast. Pete and Geneva took many trips

together in their RV, traveling across the U.S. They enjoyed many years of tennis and square

and round dancing while wintering in Mesa, Arizona at their winter home in the Venture Out

community.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter ‘Pete’, her sister Gertrude

(Trudie) Bay, and her brothers John (Jack) Ball, Robert (Bob) Ball, and Walter Ball. She is

survived by her sister, Gloria Ball Tefft of Rolla, Missouri. She is also survived by five nieces and

three nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango,

Colorado.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall
