Gwendolyn Rae George, 85, passed away on September 26, 2026 in Durango, Colorado. She was born on August 29, 1941 to John Raymond & Ruth Arlene (Yarrow) Campbell and was raised in Dougherty, IA.

Gwen graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School. She married John L. (Jack) Zweck on May 21, 1960, and together they raised 5 children outside Erie, CO (in an area also known as Chicken City). On May 22, 1987 she married Stuart W. George and added his 2 daughters to the family. Gwen and Stu made their home in several states before finally settling in Durango, CO. Gwen was active in her children’s school functions, played the organ for church occasions, and she kept her girls in fashionable clothes that she sewed for them. She had a great many interesting jobs over the years from chief egg collector, mandolin maker, airline rampy, TSA agent, and her favorite working at the thrift store. She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, sewing, fishing, searching for the perfect rock, bowling, and hunting for a good bargain or antique.

Gwen is survived by her husband Stu, daughter Laurie (Scott Quammen) Zweck, son Dan (Sherrie) Zweck, daughter Kathy Zweck, daughter Deann (Reyhan Yumer) Huth, daughter Renae Herold, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Julie Rae Zweck, and daughter Shari Lynn Rucker-Zweck.

Gwen will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of meeting her.
