Michael Harrell

October 12, 1954 — July 9, 2022

Michael "Mike" Reagan Harrell passed away on July 9, 2022, he was 67. Mike was born in Albuquerque, NM on October 12, 1954. Mike was the eldest son of Sue and Daryl Harrell and grew up with his sister Deena and brother Mark. He was part of the first graduating class of Eldorado High School where he was voted "Class Clown". He then attended Eastern New Mexico University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. After his graduation he pursued a career in culinary arts at Harvey's in South Lake Tahoe while skiing and enjoying a free spirited life in the 70's. Mike moved to Durango, he had two sons, Christopher and Parker, who were the light of his life. Together they enjoyed many days of snow skiing, wake boarding days at Navajo Lake, traveling to Mexico for dive trips, and countless other outdoor adventures. Mike was an entrepreneur, he owned two restaurants, was a successful car salesman, and then owned a commercial kitchen equipment business. His family always looked forward to the nights Mike would cook. His steak with Oscar sauce, lobster and crab legs were a few of their favorites. Mike loved his friends, his family and his dogs - particularly his spirit animal Ragnar, his black German Shepherd. Mike always said, "people in town know me as Ragnar's dad." Mike and Ragnar went everywhere together... from restaurants, casinos, airplanes and frequent trips to Home Depot as Mike spent the last couple of years remodeling his house. Mike was loved by his family, enjoyed engaging conversations, and all the people in his life. He always made people laugh and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mike is preceded by his son Christopher Harrell and his father Daryl Harrell.

Mike is survived by his son Parker Harrell, brother Mark Harrell, sister Deena Harrell Nicholson, and his mother Sue Harrell.
