Isiah Leonardo Mayberry (March 3, 1996 - June 21, 2025) was a son, a grandson, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, and a friend to all. He has the biggest heart, the loudest laugh, and a way of making everyone feel like family. He was known as a hard worker who always looked out for others. He has a compassionate nature, a giving spirit, and the ability to light up any room he walked into.
He danced without shame, laughed with his whole chest, and always brought smiles. Isiah faces his diagnosis as he lived: with courage, humor, and unshakable faith. Even in pain, he found ways to lift others. He still cracked jokes, asked how you were doing, and smiled that smile. His strength wasn't just in how he fought but in how he loved.
Isiah was born and raised in Durango, Colorado, where he made his home and was celebrated for his athleticism and accomplishments in all sports. He received the Hall of Fame at Durango High School class of 2015 and continued schooling at Fort Lewis College. He graduated in 2019 and is a respected alumnus. His greatest passion in life was his family. Isiah was a beloved cousin, brother, son and friend. He had the biggest heart, the loudest laugh, and a way of making everyone feel like family. He could make you laugh until you cried, and then listen with the gentlest understanding. He showed up, really showed up, for the people he loved. Isiah leaves behind a legacy of strength, joy, and unwavering faith. Though he was taken from us, his spirit can never be touched. That part of him lives on in every story told on a fishing boat, every golf club swing, every time he bugled an elk in, every summer crack of the bat, every Sunday football game, and every act of kindess shared in his memory.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, George and Tonya Mayberry; brothers, George (Morgan) and Lawrence (Tristan); fiancee, Camryn LeClair; nephews, George IV and Ryatt; nieces, Mila and Bristol; grandparents, Roberta Montoya Atencio and Barbara Mayberry; and great-grandfather, Roger Mestas; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
Isiah is reunited in heaven with his grandparents, Leonard Atencio and George Mayberry Sr., George and Jean Montoya, and Dolores Mestas; his uncle, Francis Garcia; his cousin, Jesse Ray Davis; and his aunt, Georgann Mendez.
