Jim Griffin was called home on November 22. 2025. He had lived in Bayfield for 37 years with his wife of 68 years, Joanne Griffin. He leaves behind four children, Peggy L. (Griffin) Pingel and husband Mitch Pingel, Michael L. Griffin and his Wife Elizabeth Griffin, Kathy J. Griffin, and Jill M. (Griffin) Fischer and husband Michael Fischer. Jim has 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. In addition, there are countless adopted children and grandchildren scattered across the state.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors. He spent his life in the mountains camping, fishing, hunting, four wheeling and exploring. He surrounded himself with friendships that lasted a lifetime. Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force where he worked as a radar/radio technician. From there he went to work for Martin Marrietta in aerospace. He retired as a Quality Control Inspector within the aerospace industry after working on the Titan, Saturn, Apollo, Space Station, and the Viking Mars Lander programs. He was always proud of his NASA heritage.
Services and a celebration of life will be held by the family at a time to be determined and announced.
