Jesse Galvez Filoteo, loving son, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 25 on Thursday July 4, 2024. Jesse was born on July 19th, 1998 in Crossville, TN to Gina and Thaddeus Filoteo. An innate creator and avid outdoorsman, Jesse found a love for hiking and nature through his upbringing in Scouts. His passion for art flourished under the guidance of his teachers in middle school and high school.

Besides traditional illustration media, his artistic proficiencies extended to sculpture, bookbinding, music, and even creative writing. Jesse made waves his senior year of high school with “Do it for Mom,” a poem about the urgent need for action regarding climate change. He graduated magna cum laude from Tennessee Tech University in 2021 with Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, minoring in English. He went on to work as a graphic designer for two and a half years before leaving the comfort of a design studio to reconnect with nature and find joy in the great outdoors with the Appalachian Conservation Corps.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Thaddeus and Gina, his siblings, Joshua and Joseph, and his sister-in-law and nephew, Nicole and Luca. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church located at 20 N Dixie Ave, Cookeville, TN on the evening of Friday, July 19.
