Joan Marie Rodriquez peacefully left her loving family on November 13, 2022. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Joan was born at Taylor hospital in Ignacio, Colorado to Stephen and Mary St. Clair. She was an enrolled member of the Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska.
Joan attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence Kansas. After earning her degree, she was employed by the BIA in Ignacio, CO where she compassionately cared for the children in the girl’s dormitory.
After leaving her position with the BIA, she devoted her life to raising her children alongside her husband Melvin Rodriquez. She loved sharing bible truths and her faith in Jehovah’s promises.
Joan had many talents, including being a wonderful seamstress and she received many compliments on her work, especially her favorite Pendleton coat. She loved to paint, do arts & crafts and loved music & dancing. She was a wonderful cook who loved her family to be together enjoying a meal with stories & laughter.
As she aged and when things got hard, she lifted our spirits with her funny antics and brought laughter and joy to our hearts. She left us with many memories we will always cherish.
Joan is survived by her children Diane (Duane) Bentley, Stacey Anderson, Becky (Robin) Pennington and Laura Rodriquez. Grandchildren Melissa, Carly and Dustin, and many other loving family and friends.
Special thanks to the awesome staff and nurses at the Mercy Hospice house for their wonderful care.
Services will be held at a later date.
