James Kennedy

Russell was born to Edward and Frances Kennedy in Durango, Colorado on January 17, 1938 and surrounded by family, entered Heaven on March 11, 2022. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Kay (McClain); son Don Kennedy; daughter Barbara and husband Les Schmitt; son Steve and wife Kathy Kennedy; son Mitch Kennedy and daughter Mona and husband Paul Dunegan; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Russell is a Veteran of the United States Army, retired with 37 years from the Colorado Division of Water Resources and he, with Kay at his side, ran the Kennedy Family Farm up until his death.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Marvel United Methodist Church. After the service, please join Kay and the family at the Marvel Grange Hall for continued celebration and a potluck dinner.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Hospice of Durango. Russ was a true example of “pay it forward” and the family would be blessed that in-lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the Marvel United Methodist Church outreach fund.
