Laura Elguezabal-Hickman of Pagosa Springs, CO passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2026 in Durango, CO.

Born in Boise, ID, Laura's adventurous spirit led her to live in Alaska and Louisiana before finally settling in Pagosa Springs in 2007. But wherever she went, her trademark warmth followed. In Pagosa, she became a pillar of the community - caring for animals at Elk Park Animal Hospital, opening her doors to travelers at the San Juan Motel, and always being ready to help someone get where they needed to go with Pagosa Cab. Her smile could light up any room, and her heart was big enough to embrace everyone who walked through her life.

Laura will be remembered most for the love she shared with her children, the joy she found in her grandchildren, and the companionship of the dogs and horses she cherished. Her kindness touched countless people in the Pagosa Springs community.

She is survived by her sons Leikos Grames and Colton Hickman; grandchildren Zane, Ella and Enzo Grames; brothers Tony Elguezabal and AJ Crow; stepfather Kenny Crow; longtime companion Garry Scoggins; and a wide circle of nieces, cousins, aunts and friends who will carry her memory forward.

The impact Laura had on her community and family cannot be measured. Her generosity of spirit, her caring nature, and her unconditional love created ripples that will continue to touch lives for generations to come. Though she is gone from this world, Laura's love, lessons, and memories will remain with us forever.
