Linda Carol (Lusk) Hiner was born to Gerald and Dolores Lusk in Mesa, Arizona. She was raised by her father and step-mother Eunice in Oklahoma and Odessa, TX before the family moved to Dover Arkansas where she graduated High School.
After graduating, Linda returned to Odessa, TX where she met a handsome jet engine mechanic from Durango, Colorado stationed at Webb Airforce base in Big Springs. David Hiner and Linda were married in Durango in 1963, and after his service was completed, they returned to Durango to live.
Linda worked as a bookkeeper for Turner Motor Co, succeeded by Martinson Motor Co, Carroll Motors, and finally Pat Murphy Motors from which she retired in the mid 1980’s. This is when she and David bought a country home and began hay farming. Linda enjoyed and took pride in keeping a beautiful yard and garden.
Linda loved to travel and after retirement she and David spent winters in Bahia Kino Mexico, on the Sea of Cortez. Linda enjoyed helping the local families in need. Later they purchased a winter home in Pearce, AZ where they spent many days on the golf course.
Linda had a servant’s heart. She always wanted to help those in need. This was often appreciated by those without families or means for self-care. Linda helped many people throughout her lifetime with food, clothes, or bringing them into her own home to support them through the end of life.
In more recent years Linda and David made Durango their full-time home. She was a member of the Durango Emblem Club and made lifetime friends with many of her Emblem Club sisters. She enjoyed trips to the casino, browsing the thrift shops, and weekly Saturday night cards with friends and family. She held the record for the best score in the card game 3-13.
Linda was proceeded in death by her father Gerald, mother Dolores, sister Janice Sims, brother Ronnie Lusk, and brother-in-law Robert Sims, and son-in-law Don Douglas.
She leaves behind her husband of 62 years David, daughter Chris, sister Chyral Sims, brother Pete (Willene) brother-in-law Bruce Hiner, and her beloved Pomeranian, Muggins.
Linda has chosen not to have a funeral and her ashes will be spread on the home-place in Dover, Arkansas with her father, sister, and brother-in-law.
SHE WILL BE MISSED!
