Linda Gayle Murray

March 26, 1950 — May 14, 2025

Durango, Colorado

Linda Gayle Murray, 75, of Durango, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 26, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, Linda's zest for life began early. She was an accomplished ice skater in her youth and carried her love of movement and grace throughout her life—later becoming an avid tennis player, like her beloved father, Charles.

Linda dedicated much of her life to her family. While raising her four children, she also managed vacation rentals in Snowshoe, West Virginia, balancing motherhood and work with warmth and determination. She and her husband, Jackson “Jack” Lee Murray, shared a deep love of adventure, skiing through the majestic mountains of Europe and traveling extensively together.

Upon retirement, Linda and Jack discovered a deep connection with the natural beauty of Durango, Colorado, making it their home while also spending cherished time at their house in Onancock, Virginia, on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay.

Linda’s generosity and joyful spirit were felt deeply in her communities. She shared her passion for wellness through teaching water aerobics in both Onancock and Durango, encouraging others to embrace health and confidence in the water. Her students remember her not only for her dedication, but for the warmth and encouragement she brought to every class.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jackson Lee Murray; her children, Loraine O’keefe Jennifer Coble, Craig Murray, and Chris Murray; her grandchildren, Max Coble, Beau Coble, Jack O’Keefe, Stella O’Keefe, and Logan Murray; and her great-granddaughter, Hyland Emilia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Wurth.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s memory to the Durango La Plata Senior Center, an organization close to her heart.

A private celebration of life will be held with family members.

Linda will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her boundless love for family, and her unwavering generosity to the communities she called home.
