Marcella Margaret Mosher

April 2, 1953 — January 26, 2023

Durango, Colorado

Marcella Mosher (née Forgo) a long- time resident of Durango, Colorado passed away at home on January 26, 2023.

Marcella was born in Los Angeles, California and graduated from Notre Dame Academy as a National Merit Scholar.  She then entered the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) graduating cum laude in 1975. With her love of skiing, hiking and all things outdoor, she left Los Angeles for a “one year stint” at Lake Tahoe, California that lasted thirteen years working in administration primarily at Alpine Meadows ski resort (now a part of Palisades Tahoe) and later at the Truckee Tahoe Airport. At Alpine Meadows, she met Thomas P Mosher. They were married on October 31, 1987. In October of 1988, Marcella and Tom moved to Durango, Colorado where Marcella initially worked at Durango Ski Corp. (Purgatory Ski Area), and later at Western Gas Supply (“Westgas”) and Fort Lewis College. In November 1997, her husband Tom passed away. In 2010, Marcella retired from Fort Lewis College and in that first year of retirement rode her bike some 4,300 miles. Marcella loved to create stained glass art, and she loved to travel visiting much of the USA also visiting Canada, Hungary and Venezuela among other locations. She very much enjoyed her daily morning walks along Hermosa Creek with her beloved dogs. She was involved in volunteer work in the community, working with both the Humane Society and the local radio station KSUT. In fact, she was the “KSUT 2012 Volunteer of the Year”. She had an incredible ability to remember details, never forgetting birthdays or the license plate numbers of family cars long gone.

She is survived by her brothers Frank Forgo and Joe Forgo nieces, Julianna Forgo and Gabriela Forgo a nephew Brandon Forgo and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Frank Forgo and Helen Forgo and her nephew Christopher Roach and her black-and-white dogs Kodiak, Jimmie, Tisza and “Rambunctious Robbie”.

While Marcella requested no services, we plan to organize a “Celebration of Life” in the spring.
