Margot Emma Snyder passed away at home on December 14, 2025, surrounded in love. She was 97 years old. Services will be Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Sacred Heart Parish in Durango. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Margot was born September 25, 1928, to Adolf & Rosa Fory in Mannheim, Germany. She met her future spouse, Don, in Germany as he was serving during World War II. Their eldest son, Donovan, was born in Germany. The young family moved to Delta, CO, in 1950. Tom and Michael were born at that time. The youngest child, Debra, was born in Monte Vista.
In 1957 the family settled in Durango. Over the years, Mrs. Snyder worked at City Market and Mercy Hospital until they opened their business "The Nut Shack" in the Durango Mall in 1982. She retired in 2002 after closing the business.
Mrs. Snyder found her greatest happiness in her family. She was always lending a hand by caring for her grandchildren, and her great-grandson, Devin.
She is survived by her children: Donovan (Diane Nofs) Snyder, Tom Snyder and Debra (Cris) Garcia; grandchildren: Saren, Adam, Randall, Millicent and Rebekah; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her spouse: Don; siblings and parents; a son: Michael Snyder; and grandson: Hart Snyder.
