Rachel McKenzie passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, in Durango. She was 41 years old.
Rachel was born August 13, 1980, to Virgina Lee and Michael McKenzie. She grew up in Shiprock, NM, and Phoenix, AZ. She graduated from Sunnyslope High School (Phoenix) in 1999. She moved to Durango in 2016 and began working for Vantiv.
She loved camping, raising children, travel and Southwest Colorado. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
She is survived by her children: Destiny Montoya; and Michael, Olivia, and Emily Skinner; mother: Virginia Lee; siblings: Jennifer and Jason McKenzie; dog: Cleo.
She is preceded in death by her father: Michael; and maternal-grandmother: Lorraine Begay; paternal-grandfather: Dr. Taylor McKenzie.
Visitation will occur at Hood Mortuary on Friday from 5-8 pm. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
