Michael Lynn Onions

On November 7th, 2023, Michael Lynn Onions, passed away in Durango, Colorado from complications from a stroke. He was 73 years old.

Mike was born on March 2, 1950 in Liberal Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He married Cindy Onions in Liberal, Kansas in 1970. They were married for 42 years. Mike and his family moved to Durango in 1985. He worked as an advertising representative for The Durango Herald in Durango, Colorado for most of his career. He also worked for the Coca Cola company prior to that in Kansas.

Mike was a loving father and grandfather. He was a hardworking man who loved his family, the mountains, jeeping, snowmobiling, fishing, scuba diving, boating, waterskiing, his dogs and so much more. His children have many wonderful memories of fun times spent together with Mike, that will be treasured forever. He will be dearly missed.

Mike is survived by his two sons, Sean(Jessica) Onions of Durango, CO and Amon Onions of Grand Junction, CO.  His former wife, Cindy Onions, of Hot Springs, AR. His grandchildren, Evangeline Onions, Elaina Onions and James Onions of Durango, CO. Siblings, Richard (Barbara) Onions of Eagle Mountain UT, Jetta (Marvin) Headrick of Turpin, OK, and Michelle Tombs of Smithville, UT, as well as many multiple nephews and nieces. He is proceeded in death by his parents John William Onions, Jr and Marita Maxine Onions(Brandes).
