Mitchell Meade

Mitchell Patrick Meade (65) passed away at his home in late July 2025. Mitchell was born in Mexico City, Mexico to Robert Eugene Meade and Joanne Jean (Mosher) Meade. He grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico and then ventured to Chicago and took college courses for land surveying. A free spirit, he moved back to New Mexico for a while and then to Pagosa Springs to try his hand at owning a restaurant. Mitchell then moved to Aspen to pursue sculpting, before starting a carpet and restoration company. Mitchell moved to Aztec, NM and then to Durango, Colorado where he spent the rest of his days.

Mitchell loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time enjoying all that Southwest Colorado had to offer. You could often find him in the mountains skiing, hiking, camping, or fishing surrounded by family and friends. He also enjoyed swimming as long as the water was warm. He enjoyed cooking. He loved spending time with his son, Jacobson, doing whatever adventure the day might bring.

He is survived by his son (Jacobson Meade), his siblings (Maureen Ray, Michael Meade, Matthew Meade, David Meade, Lisa Robinson, Kate Meade, Julie Meade, and Daniel Meade), and his grandchildren (Rian Meade, Airyella Meade, Koralee Meade, and Merrick Meade).

Mitchell touched the lives of many and will be missed greatly.

A funeral will be held in his honor at 3 PM on August 9th at Hood Mortuary.
