Jerri Morris

January 29, 1934 — July 18, 2021

Jerri Lee Morris died Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Mercy Hospice House in Durango, Colorado. She was the first of three children born to William Frank Cox and Hilda Cox on January 29, 1934 in Covington, Kentucky; she was 87.

Jerri and her husband Bill enjoyed 64 years together. They met in Durango in Jerri’s parent’s back yard and quickly became a pair, often taking spur of the moment picnics; jumping in their vehicle and heading for the mountains, fishing gear in hand. The two of them shared many happy years together creating a loving home for their children.

Jerri loved to throw parties for her family and friends, decorate elaborately for both Halloween and Christmas, and cooking big dinners. Her door was open to all, and if someone showed up unexpectedly, she would say “There’s always more room at a round table.”

She could be seen playing bingo with friends and bridge with her club. Jerri enjoyed various card games, board games, and video games with her family.

She was an accomplished artist enjoying both oil and watercolor painting. The family enjoyed many hours listening to her play tunes on her organ.

Jerri loved music of many genres; folk, rock-n-roll, and classical being amongst her favorites. She was a Zumba fanatic before it was invented, often dancing around the house to whatever tunes were her favorites at the time.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her sister Joanne; and her children: Danny Kabler and daughter April; Charmaine Rohde and children Kristine and Drew; Ricky Kabler (married to Deb) and children Doug and Matt; Michael Morris (married to Graziella) and children; Matthew, Jeremiah, and Cameron; Shauna Blaylock (married to Steve) and children Michelle, Kevin, and Kayla; Darla Hill (married to Jim) and children Joshua, Brian, and Tiana; Cheryl Hunt (married to Steve) and her child Jeremy, and several great-grand-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Frank Cox and Hilda Merle Cox, and her brother Bill Cox.
