Nina Smith

Nina Smith, 87, of Bayfield, Colorado passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2025 with her daughter Lorna and grand-dog Molly by her side.

Nina married the late Harry “Smitty” Smith on June 23, 1962 at Hill AFB in Utah. They lived in Utah, Nevada, and Germany. In 1979 they moved to Bayfield. Nina worked for many years as an insurance agent until she retired from Wilcott Insurance Agency.

Besides raising three children (Tom & Jim) from a previous marriage, and her youngest Lorna, She enjoyed sewing and going out dancing. She was well known by many and will be missed.

She is survived by her daughter Lorna, grand-dog Molly, grandson Stan (Rebecca & family), and grandson Jake Wells from her late son Tom Wells, granddaughter Almarie and Grandson Scott Wells from her late son Jim Wells, her adopted kids: Stephanie Otero (known as daughter #2), Wendy, Lory, and Debbie.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Eleanor and Pumpkin, he late husband “Smitty”, sons; Jim and Tom Wells.

As per Nina’s wishes, she will be cremated and no service will be held.

There will be a Celebration of life at her residence at a later date.
