Affectionately known as Johnny (John), was a lifetime resident of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, growing up with a deep connection to his community. Born on November 26, 1944, to José Eugenio and Glorificia Montoya.
After graduating from Pagosa Springs High School, he attended Trinidad Junior College. He loved sports and working out. Throughout his life, he held various jobs, one being his time spent working at Jackisch Drugstore. Pagosa Cab was one of the first transportation taxis serving Pagosa and was his baby.
Known for his friendly nature and easy smile, John was truly loved by his community. The many stories shared by those who knew him reflect a life well-lived. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on through the tales we tell.

He is also preceded by his brothers: Joe Martinez, Livie Maestas, Chris, Modesto, Henry, Eugenio, Ross (Levi), and Leonard Montoya; and his sister, Servilia Trujillo.
He is survived by his children: Nathan, Michael (Tava Wilson), Rachel (Eric Chisholm), and Josie (Jake Christner) Montoya.
