Patricia “Dale” Newsome, known to nearly everyone who loved her simply as Nana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Pagosa Springs. She was 76 years old. Dale leaves behind a wide and devoted circle of family and friends who cherished her deeply and whose lives were forever shaped by her presence. Those closest to her will honor her life through a private gathering, asking for the space to grieve quietly, reflect lovingly, and remember her in their own time.

Dale was born on April 23, 1949, in Georgia, to Hoke Smith Clark and Tycile Boyette, beginning a life rooted in Southern tradition and strengthened by resilience, independence, and deep devotion to family. Over the years, she carried those roots with her, shaping the woman (and Nana) she became. A true southern mama, her kitchen was a place of gathering and full bellies, her presence a constant source of familiarity and warmth, and.

Above all, Nana cherished her many grandchildren, both those she was born to and those she chose along the way. She is survived by her only son, Calvin Newsome, a man she was eternally proud of; her daughter-in-law, Brittiany Newsome, whom she considered her rock; and her grandchildren, Amoria Netzahualt, Peyton Newsome, Addison Newsome.
