Patricia Francis Tibbetts, a longtime resident of Durango, passed away in her home, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Patricia was 84 years and 20 days of age at the time of her passing. Patricia was born on July 16, 1941 to John (Johnny Mac) and Irma J. McNamara. Patricia attended school in Durango and was a Spanish Trails Fiesta Queen during her teens. She had many fond memories of those days.
Patricia has three sons, John William Kennedy, who passed away in infancy, Joseph Tibbetts, of Ignacio, and Richard Tibbetts, of Durango. Patricia will be interred with her late infant son at Greenmount Cemetery.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, John McNamara, her mother, Irma McNamara, her only sibling, Mary Ann Beavers, her partner, Donald Brees, her infant son, John Kennedy, and former husbands, John Kennedy and Jerry Tibbetts.
Patricia loved to collect Southwest art and family pictures. She loved her pets and had many special pets through the years, including her horses, Dosey and Star. Pat loved her family's former ranch, the Irma J, and spent many years residing in the cabin until it burned. Patricia eventually moved into the Mountain Sun Apartments where she made many friends and lived until her passing.
Patricia is survived by her sons, Joseph and his family, and Richard.
Patricia will be interred in a small graveside service, held with the help of Hood Mortuary, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10 am at Greenmount Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome.
