Rhonda Kay Johnson was born on August 27, 1952, in Cortez, Co and passed peacefully at home in Dove Creek, CO on September 26, 2026.

Rhonda graduated from Dolores High School and went on to earn a degree in social work from CSU and a Masters Degree in Psychology from UNC.

Rhonda’s professional career as a mental health counselor spanned numerous years both in Las Vegas, Nevada and Northern Colorado.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents Jake and Jean Johnson of Dolores, brothers Dale Johnson and Larry Johnson also of Dolores, brother-in-law Charles Mitchell of Livermore, CO, and several four-legged family members.

Survivors include a brother Lloyd Johnson of Dolores, a sister Veta Mitchell of Livermore, sisters-in-law Sheryl Spear, Joy Steerman and Darlene Johnson all of Dolores, numerous nieces and nephews, and her four-legged companion Ursa.

She will be remembered for her tenacity in facing adversity, her courage in facing numerous health issues, but most of all for her generous heart and hearty laugh.

No services are currently planned for remembrance and the scattering of her ashes.
