As we celebrate a life well lived, we remember Rick Dana Shaw, who passed away on March 3, 2026, in Durango, Colorado. Rick was known for his warm smile and the unmistakable twinkle in his blue eyes. He loved gathering around great bonfires, traveling down dusty back roads, and embracing every adventure life had to offer.

Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there remains a trail of beautiful memories.

Rick will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Lyn; his three daughters, Molly, Jodi, and Tiffany; and his son-in-law, Jon. He was a proud and devoted “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. Rick is also survived by his brother, Steve; his sisters, Alison and Suzanne; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Laura; and many dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.

Rick was born in Santa Monica, California, and grew up in Los Angeles and Long Beach. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1968. In 2012, he and his wife moved to Bayfield, Colorado, where he cherished being closer to his children and grandchildren and enjoyed the beauty of the place he proudly called home.

Rick’s legacy lives on in the memories shared around campfires, along quiet country roads, and in the hearts of those who loved him.
