Obituary

Robert Harley Conner was born on January 15, 1956 to Robert Clifford Conner and Alma Pauline (Howe) Conner. Robert was born in Cortez, Colorado-the oldest of five children.

Robert passed away at his home June 14, 2026 at the age of 70. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife-Sheila, his daughter-Lauren Ashley Conner, his brother Richard, and his parents. Surviving Robert are his three youngest siblings-Terrie, William, and Jay, wife-Kathy, nine children and many grandchildren.

Robert and Sheila had four children: Robert, Matthew, Curtis, and Katrina. Robert and Rhonda had one daughter-Lauren.

Robert married Kathy with her four children-Crystal, Tiffany, Jonathan, Ashley, and together they had Jacob.

Robert boasted of having nine children.

Robert's first home with his younger brother, Richard and his parents was in a small camp trailer on Mildred Road before moving out to Lakeview where the family resided for the rest of his childhood.

Robert attended Lakeview School, then Cortez Junior High, and then graduated from Montezuma Cortez High School.

Robert wore many hats. He joined the Marines where he completed his tour and returned home. He worked as a Bureau of Reclamation employee, ranch hand, oilfield worker, mill worker, paralegal, and lumber yard hand.

Robert loved to hunt, fish, and explore the countryside. He enjoyed trapping and inevitably ended up with a skunk in the traps and take that odor with him on the school bus and school. Most folks were not happy about it.

When Robert and his siblings were young, he would go into the house and ask for a snack; not just for himself but for all of his brothers and sister as well. When their mother baked a cake, if their father didn't get the frosting bowl, Robert would ask for it and share with his siblings. He was a very thoughtful child. Rob will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
