Robert Charles Ericson
Dec. 6, 1944 – Oct. 3, 2026
Bob Ericson, age 81, of Wilsonville, Oregon, passed away following a car accident on October 3, 2026. He was born on December 6, 1944, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Glenn and Elaine (Meyer) Ericson.
Bob grew up in rural Winthrop, sharing many adventures with his siblings and cousins. One favorite story, often retold by Bob and his brother Curt, involved young Bob getting stuck in deep snow on his way to school. Curt and a friend came to the rescue, equipped with nothing more than a spoon from a lunch box. It was likely the same school route that required walking uphill both ways.
Following his graduation from Winthrop High School in 1962, Bob earned his bachelor’s degree from Mankato State College. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a pilot during the Vietnam War. During his military service he attained the rank of Captain, and was proud of the opportunity to serve his country.
After his time in the Air Force, Bob pursued the profession that would become his life’s work. He earned a PhD in Psychology and began his career as a Psychologist in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2003, he served as President of the New Mexico Psychological Association. Bob was particularly able and willing to assist military families with a variety of challenges.
Singing competitively in barbershop quartets was one of Bob’s favorite activities. In recent years, he kept that musical spirit alive by performing with the I-5 Connection Chorus Group in Wilsonville, Oregon.
Bob enjoyed many years of retirement in Wilsonville, Oregon. His interests included golf, good food and wine, and travelling all over the world with his wife Pam and their friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pam Martin; his stepsons Jason (Katie) Gordon of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Scott (Takako) Gordon of Chiba, Japan; and two grandchildren, Cuyler and William. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Neill of Wausau, Wisconsin, and his loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ron Ericson and Curt Ericson.
Interment with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
