Robert Howard
Marion
Dec 10, 1945 — Aug 31, 2026
Robert “Bob” Howard Marion of Mancos, Colorado passed away on August 31, 2026 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer, surrounded with love from his family, friends, neighbors, and community. Bob was born to Adriana K. and Robert U. Marion in Paterson, New Jersey on December 10, 1945. He attended East Side High, was an Eagle Scout, and went on as the first in his family to graduate from college. He was a proud alumnus of Stevens Institute of Technology and Northwestern University, where he earned his PhD in Material Science.
Bob had a successful and gratifying career in research and product development, retiring from Loctite in 2001 and then moving to the Colorado mountains. Bob was a passionate hiker, hunter, skier, and conservationist; he was awarded the Aldo Leopold Award by Backcountry Hunters and Anglers for his efforts to address the impacts of motorized trails on wildlife health and habitat. Bob loved to travel internationally and throughout the U.S., exploring approximately 30 countries and many national parks with his friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Marion, daughters Jeanne Marion of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Kimberly Marion Suiseeya (Samak) of Durham, North Carolina, sister Marge Schollaert (Bob) of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, step-daughter Kathryn Andrew (Ryan) of Golden, Colorado, step-son Eric Brown (Tina) of Baldwin, Maryland, and seven amazing grandchildren: Sumalee, Claire, Cole, Carver, Henry, Cadence, and Calady.
The family would like to thank Pasco Home Health, Pasco Home Hospice and Dr. Kirsten Searfus for their compassion, expertise and love. A private memorial service for family, followed by a Celebration of Life for family and friends, will be held the afternoon of June 20, 2027, in Mancos, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested donations to his favorite conservation organizations: the San Juan Citizens Alliance and the Grand Canyon Trust.
