Obituary

Robert Salvatore Stalioraitis

Durango,Co resident Robert Stalioraitis passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was 82 years old. Robert was born to George and Ida (Zappola) Stalioraitis on November 18, 1943, in Troy, NY. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Deanna; son Robert B. and wife Bobi Stalioraitis of CA, daughter Dana and husband Mike Devlin of FL; sisters Gloria Davis of OH and Lorraine (Ted) Lee of TN; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and extended family. He served four years in the Marine Corp (1960-1964). The Stalioraitis family relocated from northern Virginia to Bayfield Co in 1977 where they owned and operated the High Country Lodge for several years before moving to Durango. Robert was known to many people in the Bayfield and Durango area from his employment at Durango Tire, K-Mart, Kroeger's Ace Hardware, and most recently the Florida Mesa Mosquito Control District. When he wasn't working he could be found fishing with his fishing buddies at Navajo Lake or Lake Powell. His favorite catch was largemouth bass. He also enjoyed visiting the casinos, the old car shows, and the oldies DOO-WOP music.

Cremation has occurred. We honor his request that there be no services. We do plan a celebration of life that is now in the planning stages. Please check back here for more information.
