Durango, Colorado

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Roger L. Landgren, passed away at the Hospice House of Mercy, surrounded by his family, on April 19, 2024 at the age of 88. Roger is survived by his wife Cora, and they were set to celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary in May.

Roger was born in Aiken, MN on August 14, 1935 to John and Olga Landgren. Throughout his childhood, Roger was raised with a strong sense of hard work and service. His upbringing led Roger to join the Navy and serve his country with the Seabee’s. Following his time in the Navy, Roger continued serving the communities he loved as a police officer in both Duluth and St. Louis Park, MN. Roger served as a police officer for a total of 33 years, retiring from the St. Louis Park Police Department in 1991 at the rank of Lieutenant.

Prior to his time in the Seabee’s, Roger met and married Cora on May 12, 1956. Throughout Roger’s life, he was very devoted to his family, always doing his best to support every endeavor. In addition to Cora, Roger leaves behind his family of Mark Landgren (Anna), Wendy Gonzales (David), Holly Landgren, Grandchildren Brady Landgren (Tammy), Erik Landgren (Kat), Andra Minser (Brandon), Paige Dee (John) as well as five great grandchildren to continue his legacy of love and service through their lives. Roger was preceded in death by grandsons Trevor Landgren and Logan Krull. Roger is also survived by one sister, Mary Bricker (Jim).

In addition to his service to country and community, Roger was faithful to his church family at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Durango. Roger volunteered many hours of service to the church through spearheading the expansion of the church building and the construction of a Columbarium where his ashes will rest. Roger was also a Mason, Shriner and was active for many years with the Tin Lizzy’s.

Roger loved the outdoors. After retirement and a move to Colorado, he spent many days exploring the mountains and backcountry by ATV, hiking and camping.  Roger was a carpenter spending time crafting and stamping beautiful projects with his RockinL brand leaving fond memories for family and friends for years to come.
