James Philbert "Jimmy" Romero passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at home with his wife at his side. He was 69 years old.
Jimmy was born January 31, 1952, to Basilio Romero and Louise Lujan in Durango, Colorado. Jimmy grew up in Durango alongside his three siblings Ted, Anna, and Mark. He graduated from Durango High School in 1970. Jimmy had a son, Dion, from a previous marriage and married his wife Lisa on April 3, 1989. They had three children together Ray, John, and Anna. He worked various jobs but worked at Walmart for about 15 years and retired in 2015. After retirement, Jimmy spent his time with his family.
Jimmy was an avid Colorado sports fan. He enjoyed going to Broncos and Rockies games with his family. He had a passion for music and loved to sing and listen to all of his favorite songs. Jimmy enjoyed being out in nature and animals were always drawn to him.
He loved being around family and loved his family fiercely. Jimmy was universally loved by all that knew him for how kind and gentle he was. He had an incredible sense of humor. You would often find him making jokes and being silly to ensure everyone around him was laughing.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his mother Louise Romero; children: Dion (Gina) , Ray (Krystan), and John Romero, and Anna (Vance) McCullough; Siblings: Ted Romero, Anna Monaghan and Mark Romero. He was preceded by his father: Basilio Romero.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at Hood Mortuary on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
