Roxine Ann McCoy

March 5, 1950 — July 2, 2025

Navajo Dam, New Mexico

Roxine Ann Robbins, born March 5, 1950, in Durango, Colorado, to Edwin Harvey (“Rockey”) Robbins and Betty Jane Robbins, passed away on July 2, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harvey Robbins; her sisters, Kaunditta Sanchez, Charline Rivas, and Vanessa Bailey; her first husband, Donald Lee McPherson; her stepson, Donald Lee McPherson, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Geraldine Marquez-McPherson; her beloved son, Justin McCoy; and her husband of nearly 50 years, Jerry McCoy, who followed her just two days later on July 4, 2025.

Roxine is survived by her sister, Cheryl Anne Hollady; her children, Patricia GWendolyn Sturtevant, Rockey William McPherson, Troy Jacob McPherson, and Travis Charles (Kandi) McCoy; her stepson, Kevin Wallace (Nina) McPherson; daughter-in-law, Kelly (Justin) McCoy; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. From a young age, Roxine was a natural-born mother, helping to raise her three younger sisters beginning at just 12 years old. That nurturing spirit defined her life, as she went on to raise not only her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but also countless others who needed a mother along the way. She grew up in Nevada and California before returning to Colorado in 1975 with her three eldest children. There she met Jerry McCoy, and together they built a life full of love, hard work, and devotion to family. Roxine ran their ranch alongside Jerry, worked as a caregiver, and held various other jobs through the years — always putting her family first.

She was a woman of deep faith, always ready to share her love of Jesus, to pray for or with anyone who needed it, and to extend kindness wherever she could. Roxine was known for her honesty, generosity, and fierce love — she would give the shirt off her back to someone in need, even if it was her last. Roxine had many passions: ranching, gardening, canning, quilting, crafting, and cooking for her family. She loved the outdoors — camping, fishing, and swimming in rivers, lakes, and oceans whenever she had the chance. She delighted in music and cherished hearing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren sing, especially around a campfire.

Her favorite holiday was Easter, and for over 25 years she hosted an annual Easter picnic, complete with egg hunts, games, and food — always open to anyone who wished to join. Her family plans to carry on this tradition in her honor.

Roxine touched countless lives with her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service to others that will live on through all who knew and loved her.

Her services will be held on Monday, July 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at Hood Mortuary in Durango, Colorado. Jerry’s service will be the following morning, Tuesday, July 15th, also at Hood Mortuary. Following his service, they will be laid to rest together at La Boca Cemetery, with a joint reception to follow at the Auxiliary/Family Room at the Bayfield Church of Christ.
