Obituary for Tom Scott Rutherford
Tom Scott Rutherford passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at home, surrounded by family. He was 62.
Tom was born on January 15, 1954, in Wichita, KS, to Lee Roy and Emma (Joplin) Rutherford. He grew up in Clearwater, KS, and attended schools there. The family moved to Durango in 1972. Tom worked at Morehart Chevrolet for over 25 years as a mechanic. Tom also worked at Vandegrift Diesel and at O'Reilly Auto Parts. He was a member of the Florida Mesa Church of Christ in Durango.
He is survived by his mother: Emma, of Durango, Sisters: Jo (Andy) Mason of Farmington and Jill (Clint) Brooks of Durango, 4 nieces and 2 nephews, and numerous extended family and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his father.
A Celebration of Tom's life will be held Monday, March 7, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the Florida Mesa Church of Christ.
