On January 13, 2018 Randy Schlotthauer passed on surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Janet, son Jon, daughter Anna (James Bathgate), grandchildren Christian, JJ and Merida, brother Ron and parents Jim and Judy Schlotthauer; as well as extended family Jan Lee, Floyd and Betty Weiderspon, Dennis and Cindy Carlson, the Adkins/Mitchell family, the Hammer family, Diana Arellano and Jim Smyth.
As a life-long rail enthusiast, Randy was the proud owner/operator of the private rail car Columbia River. As the Vice President of Slotsy Tours and Travel, Randy was essential in the establishment of 8th grade Washington, D.C. trips in Orange County. The passion Randy had for American History led to him earn his Masters in Education at Chapman University and in to the classroom teaching American History and Government.
In his retirement, Randy loved to travel the Southwest with his wife Janet, fish at any spot available, and play with his young grandchildren JJ and Merida. While he left us early, he left behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
A graveside service was held in his beloved Durango, CO. A memorial service will be held on February 17, 2018 at 12pm at Friends Community Church in Brea, Ca. The family requests casual wear in your most patriotic red, white and blue.
