We honor our dear mother, Joann Smith, who peacefully passed away on November 7 after an illness that lasted several weeks. She was 89 years old.
Born in Chicago, Illinois; Joann was the only daughter of Mary K. Long and Walter George Long. She married our beloved father, Robert Karl Smith, in November of 1952. Married for 65 years, they had two daughters, Karla and Jennifer. Joann enjoyed being in different places. She, ‘Bob’ , and the two girls had homes in Wisconsin, Ohio, California, and Florida. After the passing of her husband in 2017, Joann spent her remaining years in Colorado with her daughters.
Joann was an adoring and dedicated mother. She cherished nature and animals, especially dogs. She also loved art and music. Her daughters were blessed to learn from her and cultivated similar appreciations.
Joann was preceded in death by her mother Mary Long, her father Walter Long, her aunt Ann Pasqual, and her husband Robert Smith. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Robertson and her son-in-law Thomas Robertson and by her other daughter Karla Atkins and her son-in-law William Atkins.
