Teresa Elaine Garcia

Teresa Elaine Garcia, 44, passed away peacefully with family by her side Friday morning, November 3, 2023, in Durango, Colorado.

Teresa was born May 3, 1979, to Elroy and Patsy Garcia in Sacramento, CA. She attended school in Durango and graduated from Durango High School in 1999.

Teresa was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare congenital disorder, from which long-term effects took her life. She spent most of her adult life in Grand Junction, CO. in various care centers and host homes. Some of her best times were spent with Connie, a special host home provider.

Teresa returned to Durango in August 2022 and resided at Junction Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center until her death.

Teresa was a sweet, loving lady who loved to laugh. Teresa enjoyed listening to music, putting large puzzles together and all types of word games. She also loved going to the Arcade and winning tickets that she could turn in for prizes. She also loved all types of sports and was an avid Bronco’s fan.

Teresa was preceded in death by her infant sister, Maria; her mother, Patsy; maternal grandparents, Hank and Betty Hill; and paternal grandfather, Charlie Garcia.

Teresa is survived by her father, Elroy Garcia; stepmom, Marti Garcia; siblings, Elisha Sisson (Garrett), Joshua Garcia (Evangelina); grandmother, Frances Blacker; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews; Kaylie Garcia, Austin Garcia, Isabella Garcia, Logan Sisson, and Ahna-Sophia Garcia.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10^th, 2023 at Hood Mortuary in Durango, Colorado.
